DAY THREE: HANDS-ON STUDIES AND THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, HOUSTON
On the morning of day three of the Italian Renaissance course, we prepared for our exciting trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston! We had an eventful morning filled with different art activities. These activities included constructing a Duomo de Milano-themed metal puzzle, working on a 1000-piece puzzle of the Vasilica, and filling in coloring books based on artworks during the Renaissance. We had a lot of fun working on these activities and making connections to what we have been learning before heading to the MFAH.
After our hands-on morning activities, we took a quick walk to the MFAH for lunch at Cafe Leonelli. We sat together and ate at the cafe before walking through the underground tunnel to the main art museum building. There, we split into two groups of seven to explore the Renaissance art exhibits. Mr.Wadzeck gave us a scavenger hunt form to fill out while we looked at the art. The form contained questions like “Find a picture of Mary. Who's the other baby with Jesus?” or “Find an example of impressionism.” While we were completing the scavenger hunt, we also searched for pieces that inspired us to make our creative response piece and the oil painting pieces we'd be making on Friday.

Once we were done with the exhibit and our scavenger hunts, we left for a snack at the Lionelli Cafe and made our way back to the school.
