COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this two-week intensive course, students will utilize art, literature, and architecture to study the history of Northern Italy during the European Renaissance. These studies will rely on primary and secondary readings, films, art, research, outings, and hands-on activities. Through individual and group projects, students will learn key terms that lead up to and inform the period, build artist profiles, try their hand at making their own pasta, and create Renaissance-inspired artwork. While Houston outings will include visits to local restaurants and museums, students will also create virtual walking tours of Italian cities to help each other understand this place-based historical study.
